Vernon, and Washington Academy in Lexington, Va. There is also a facsimile and typescript for items whose originals are elsewhere or in private hands. A few of the original Washington-related items have been reproduced for research with the originals removed for security purposes.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of an account book kept by the Washington and Custis families. The account book is stained and faded, having been buried during the American Civil War. It consists of 36 leaves containing George Washington's formal record of the settlement of the Daniel Parke Custis estate and of his guardianship of his stepchildren, John Parke and Martha Parke Custis and are in Washington's handwriting, 1761-1773.
