A real photographic post card of the footbridge that connected the Lexington, Va. train station with the DeHart hotel (Castle Hill). The image provides the view from the west end of the bridge loooking east towards Lexington and includes the station and dwellings along Myers street. Both the footbridge and DeHart Hotel were destroyed before 1950.

A real photograph postcard of Washington and Lee University ambulance driver James Rowan (WLU class of 1914) standing in front of his ambulance in France during the First World War. The second image in this collection is of Robert P. Rowan in his military uniform wearing the U.S. Army's Distinguished Service Cross awarded to him for his heroism in combat as a corporal in Company A, of the 116th Infantry. The Rowan brothers were from Greenville, Augusta County, Virginia.

The four smaller photos are copy prints from early student scrapbooks from WLU manuscripts.
