Nathaniel Pope Howard Papers
This collection contains AMS notebooks (156 p. and 25 p.) of Howard's annotations for an edition of Lucretius as well as two ALS from H. A. J. Munro to Howard dated July 15, 1867 and May 19, 1868.
Native Americans
This collection consists of files containing newspaper articles, history essays and writing, and photographs concerning Native American land, battles with colonial settlers, prominent figures, and forts in Rockbridge County. Many materials describe the Shawnee Tribe and their presence and relationship with settlers in Kerrs Creek, Abbs' Valley, Balcony Falls, and Hayes Creek Mound. Some materials concern the death of Chief Cornstalk, also known as Hokoleskwa, and the Kerrs Creek Massacre.
Natural Bridge
Negative, Lee Family Piano
An image negative of the Lee family piano when it was on display in the Lee Chapel Museum. The piano is now located in president's house on Washington and Lee University's campus. The negative was sleeved in an envelope with a note for 'Miss Helen' from Charles Tolley that reads: 'This is a negative of the piano in the Museum. If you feel that you could ever use it, you may keep it'.
Neil November collection
This collection holds documents related to Mr. November’s time at Washington and Lee associated with the fraternity he belonged to: the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Zeta Beta Tau. He was the cartoonist for the national Zeta Beta Tau organization from 1948 to 1950, while also drawing cartoons for local publications in Rockbridge County and for fraternal events. Included are sketches, finished products, and correspondence about his work as a cartoonist and official Zeta Beta Tau publication.
