This is the catalog for the exhibition 19th & 20th Century Valley of Virginia Folk Art, which was held at Southern Seminary College in Buena Vista, VA during April 1991. This catalog contains descriptive information about the pieces in the exhibit, all of which were from the collection of Linda and Kurt Russ.
Collection about Marion Montague Junkin
This collection contains a memorial volume and papers relating to Junkin and his works. Specifically there is a typescript concerning Marion Junkin's mural, The Struggle for Intellectual Freedom and a program for an exhibit of Junkin's work held at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in 1939.
Gary Apgar cartoons
Two original pen and ink cartoons drawn by W&L University alumnus Gary Apgar. The cartoons pertain to the mystery of the 1967 disappearance of the W&L mace - a ceremonial staff carried in academic processions. One of the cartoons was published in the April 18, 1967 edition of the student newspaper, Ring Tum Phi with Biology professor Dr. James Holt Starling, University Marshall, depicted as well. The mace was soon recovered.
