Hopkins, include 12 letters to his wife, Lou, all but one from his post in Lynchburg, Virginia, concerning their Lexington, Virginia farm, food supplies, mutual acquaintances, and occasionally the war, in particular the Battle of Lynchburg as well as several other family letters and Confederate money.

This collection contains letters and receipts of Colonel James Kerr Edmondson, a Lexington, Virginia lawyer, judge and mayor, and of his wife, Emily Jane Taylor Edmondson. Their are some items from their relations, the Monroes and Penicks of Lexington.
