Glasgow Family Correspondence
Consists largely of correspondence within the Glasgow/Paxton/Anderson family. Correspondence related to Rebekah A. Glasgow dates from 1846 to 1903, and correspondence within the Paxton family dates from 1897 to 1900. Also includes limited correspondence from Ellen Glasgow.

Eli F. Irons Correspondence
The collection consists of a single letter written by Eli F. Irons, a Union soldier serving in the 146th Regiment of the Ohio National Guard, out of Fayette, VA, to his wife, Mrs. M. B. Irons, in August of 1864. In the letter, Irons talks of his experiences serving in the garrison, and his desire to return home shortly.

Randolph T. Shields Collection
This collection includes American Civil War recollections of Shields' maternal grandfather, Coupland Randolph Page, including his service with the Liberty Hall Volunteers, the Stonewall Brigade, and the Battle of Gettysburg. In addition, papers contain significant documents about members of the Tucker family, including John Randolph Tucker and Judge Henry St. George Tucker.

Also includes material regarding Smith's 1921 trip to England chairing a commission to present a copy of Houdon's statue of George Washington to the British government from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
