Hiram Martz Papers
This collection consists largely of constituent correspondence relating to Shenandoah Valley local politics, land transactions, and railroads. Included are letters from Congressman John Letcher and his assessments of the contemporary political scene, including congressional elections, Kansas migration, and railroads.

This collection consists of correspondence from Frank M. Cockrell during his time as a student at Washington and Lee to his mother and his brother, Alexander. He writes about his classes and examinations, health, and the weather. Included are report cards, proficiency certificates, and his diploma from Washington and Lee University.
Alamby Miller Scrapbook
This file consists of a scrapbook of works written by Washington College student Alamby Miller between 1864-1868. Included are Virginia university magazines, clippings from the Southern Collegian, and original poetry. There is also a scrapbook titled Alamby Millington Miller by Professor James W. Massie dated 1870. This scrapbook is a typed biography including a letter from Alamby to his sister.
South Carolina Papers
This collection consists of papers from South Carolina, including: two letters, January 11 and January 14, 1865, from Major General Joseph Wheeler to General Braxton Bragg; printed 1833 broadside of a restrictive bill concerning slavery in South Carolina; other Civil War documents.
George Hutcheson Denny Speech
This collection contains a typed copy of a speech given in 1911, by George H. Denny, President of Washington and Lee University, as he departed for the University of Alabama as well as a photocopy of the speech in shorthand form, taken by Harry E. Meek, Washington and Lee University, Class of 1915.

Babylonian tablet
The collection consists of a small clay tablet inscribed on both sides with Sumerian cuneiform. The script records shipments of wheat and mentions two Sumerian kings by name. One side of the tablet bears char marks, possibly originating from fire in the destruction of Ur.
Henry Lee III papers
This collection consists of a diary and three letters written by Henry Lee III; also included are three land grants and one military commission signed by Lee during his tenure as governor of Virginia.

Lee Memorial Association Records
Julia Wise letter
This letter from Julia Wise to her aunt describes people and conditions during an early part of the siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi during the American Civil War. Among the individuals named in the letter are: Sophranna Ross, Joel Wise, Andrew Currie, Albert Currie and Martin Fortner. A photocopy and transcription of the letter are housed with the item.
