James Anderson Terrell Reminiscences
The collection consists of the autobiographical memoirs of James Anderson Terrell, a Confederate soldier, settler, cowboy, and politician. Written when Terrell was in his late seventies, the bulk of the material centers on his experiences during the American Civil War and his later time spent pioneering in Kansas. Additional topics include his beginnings in Georgia, life during Reconstruction, and his return to Georgia at the end of his life.
Douglas MacLeod Virginia Canal History Research Collection
Secondary sources compiled by historian Doug Macleod on the history of Virginia canals and river navigation with a focus on the James River from Lynchburg, Va. and west. The collection includes three binders compiled of early newspaper article scans mentioning canal development. Also included are eight 20th century magazines related to or including information on canal history.

Effinger School Collection
The Effinger School collection consists of the compiled research of Clinton Lee Anderson and Henry A. Hatcher, co-authors of "Celebrate Effinger, 1922-2010" their published history of the Effinger School in the Collierstown vicinity of Rockbridge County, Virginia. Included within the collection are various records, publications, printed matter from the school, school newspapers, alumni records, photographs, and general history of the school.

A single parchment academic certificate signifying completion in the course of Latin for Washington College student Charles A. Graves, dated June 1868, and signed by Professor C.J. Harris and Washington College president Robert E. Lee.

The collection consists of correspondences between Mark Byrn Davis, Jr. and other Washington and Lee University alumni and related figures concerning the potential decision to institute co-education at Washington and Lee in 1984.
First Baptist Church Receipt Book
The collection consists of color scans of a ledger belonging to the First Baptist Church of Lexington, Virginia, presumably used to document donations given to the church from 1890 to 1907. Of note is the list of then-parishoners accompanying the donations.

City Manger's Report on Lexington, Virginia Downtown Restoration Project
The collection consists of the report submitted to the Virginia Municipal League by Lexington City Manager John Doane in April of 1978 concerning the restoration of the city's central business district. The report contains before-and-after photographs by Tom Bradshaw and the signature of the late Mayor Charles F. Phillips.
Marshall Fishwick Research Collection on Michael Miley
The collection consists of research material compiled by Dr. Marshall W. Fishwick on Michael Miley and his developments in color photography. Items of interest include Fishwick's article on Miley published in American Quarterly, a 1904 cabinet card of Michael Miley by his son, Henry, three cabinet cards of the early interior of Lee Chapel, the Colonnade, and VMI's front gates, correspondences between Henry Miley and Fishwick, and copies of several original Miley photographs.
Horace Whaley Phillips Scrapbook
A scrapbook compiled by Washington and Lee University student Horace Whaley Phillips, of Suffolk, Virginia (WLU class of 1908)during his studetn years. It is made from a 1902 Mary Baldwin College yearbook, "The Blue Stocking," and includes pasted in photographs, newspaper clippings, school and Lexington, Va. related ephemera, and more. Further subjects include, Stonewall Brigade Band, C&O Railroad, W&L President George H. Denny, athletics, W&L student body.

Jefferson Davis Futch, III collection
This collection contains WLU alumnus Michael Barr's collection of letters and recorded lectures of WLU Professor Jefferson Davis Futch, III. It also contains an undated audiorecording of WLU alumnus, Dr. Ward W. Briggs remarks about James Graham Leyburn. Briggs'remarks were likely given at an alumni event on the subject of liberal arts education and Greek philosophy.
Andrew Hollinger Papers
The collection consists of eight bound diaries written by Andrew Hollinger and addressed to "The Team;" one binder of typed original poetry; and eight folders containing correspondences, materials related to Washington and Lee University, the ROTC Program, and Psi Upsilon fraternity, and a number of Hollinger's financial papers.

Materials collected by WLU alumnus Richard Weaver, '96, pertaining to Washington and Lee University. Items include a WLU 1908 Sophomore Cotillion program, WLU 1914 Finals program, a WLU Bulletin titled, "The Tucker Hall Fire and Plans for the New Law Building," a WLU Bulletin titled, An address Delivered by Rev. L. W. Irwin, D.D., in Lee Chapel, Washington and Lee University, june 7, 1926, and a photograph of Jean Marie Lorton who led the WLU Final Ball in 1914.

Henry Ruffner Letter to Thomas Aspinwall
A letter of introduction for former Washington College Professor of Natural Philosophy and Chemistry Joseph W. Farnum penned by Washington College (Va.) president Henry Ruffner to American Consul to London, England, Col. Thomas Aspinwall. Ruffner asks that Aspinwall assist in connecting Farnum with those of "scientific society and institutions" in the vicinity of London, England.
